Everybody
danced with Alfredo De Angelis´s music. This is out
of discussion. The characteristic rhythm of this pianist gave
a different touch to our "tango". His paricular
style called together a lot of people and, although music is
slowly changing, it does not lose importance and its freshness
talks about its masive aceptation. For some people, this
musician born on November,2nd 1911, gave an important
influence in order to make the audience like our
"tango". At the age of 9 he played the piano in
Adrogue cinema and helped to support his home. When he
was 13 he moved to Banfield and three years later he came to
live in the downtown of Buenos Aires where he was member
of an institute. Later he bagan working in Belgrano radio and he
was a member of a trio. There he played with a lot of
important people and it was very useful for him because it
allowed him to be known in the "Ambiente
arrabalero". Later he started working in different
cabarets playing with famous orchestras.
At the beginning he played in Frassano's orchestra, then in
Anselmo's, Arieta's, D'Arienzo's, Luis D'Abraccio's and the Italian Lauro's till he started his own orchestra. His
most brilliant time was when he was in "Glostora Tango
Club", he was there for about 25 years, all the young
people that started with him they also retired. It was a
stable orchestra. It had a very simple musical conception,
so all the people who preferred musical
manifestations of very simple harmony liked it. The orchestra gave
always a lot of importance to its singers. It was an exponent
of the tango without giving more importance to the musical
"alardes", and it satisfied the requirements of an
audience that chose this type of music. As composer he is the
author of:"Pregonera"(Town crier), "La
Pastora"(The shepherdess), "Aleli"(Winter
gilliflowers), "Mañanita linda"(Nice morning), and
"El taladro"(The drill), dedicated to Banfield, his
favourite soccer team. His death in 1990 touched the
"Ambiente tanguero" and left the memories of an unmistakable style.
