Homage | Rosanna Falasca
   
From "El Portal del Tango" we pay homage to a big woman in the tango
history.


She was born on April 27th, 1953  in Humboldt (Santa Fe). Her father was Italian, Ado Falasca; and her mother was Argentine, Paula de Falasca.
Rosanna was the third daughter.She had one sister, María Cristina, and three brothers: Ado, Daniel and Roberto. Her father and her brothers were musicians.In an interview done to her father he described his daugther as  intelligent, enterprise and vital girl, she was loved by everybody.Chany, as she was called, was a sweet girl. She used to sing in different cities with her family.She started her career when she was ten, when her family listened to her singing and realized that she had a big future.One morning her father took her to sing in front of a microphone and there she started her career as a singer. When she was twenty she made her debut in her father's orchestra singing melodic songs in Clusellas (Santa Fe).In 1960 she sang in a radio show  in Santa Fe and with only thirteen she made her debut in front of television cameras (in channel 13 SantaFe) and then in Entre Rios. In 1967 she returned to television in channel 10 of Córdoba.In 1968 she participated in a Festival which took place in Rios Cevallos (Córdoba).There  were  famous argentine artists there,and she sang in Italian with her father's orchestra with Daniel and Ado. In January 1969, when she was sixteen years old, her father´s orchestra played in Rafaela (a Quilmes club). That night the producer Julio de Martino was there, and after listening to Rosanna, proposed her father to take her to Buenos Aires, so she travelled to Buenos Aires with her brother and Carlos Valverde.In March 9th, 1969 she sang in a Café Concert and continued performing there during a week. In her first travel to Buenos Aires she had the chance of meeting important people. Later Rosanna returned to her town to sing with her father. In August 27th, 1969 her father came back to Buenos Aires and presented his daughter in "Grandes Valores del Tango" (Channel 9). On August she began performing in "Cabo 710" three times a week. In "Grandes Valores del Tango" she wan a contest singing the song "Madreselva" (Honeysuckle). Then she was an exclusive figure of the channel for four years. She made her debut in 1970, when she was seventeen years old. Later, Rosanna Inés Falasca started her big career as an artist, and she started travelling and acting in different provinces. Some time later she performed in  Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and all the countries of South and Central America. She acted in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela. She appeared in three films: "Arriba juventud", "Siempre fuimos compañeros"(We always were mates) (with Donald) and "Te necesito tanto, amor" (I need you so much, love) (with Nelli Panizza in 1976). In 1978 she was part of "La Cruzada joven del Tango" and she worked on the TV show "Botica del Tango". She loved modern music,  oriental philosophy and yoga.She was called "La princesa rubia del tango" (The blonde princess of  tango), because she was beautiful and  talented, she studied English, French and dance.On November 7th, 1982 doctors diagnosed her cance and she immediaately went under surgery. In 1983 she was taken by her boyfriend (engineer and industrialist) Luis Hernandez to a country seat to her recovery, but doctors did not give more than four years, so her boyfriend decided to advance their wedding. But it could not be possible because her heart did not work any more. She died on February 20th, 1983 in Don Torcuato, when she was 29 years old Everybody said goodbye to "Bella niña del Tango" or "Alondra" as she will be remembered.
