In
the beginning of 1940, in parallel with the growth of the most
qualified orchestras, such as Troilo’s, Pugliese’s, Di
Sarli’s or Gobbi’s, other groups, more related to the
traditional forms of expression, had a pleasant reaction from
the audience, which placed them amongst the great personalities
of tango around that time. In those circumstances, Alfredo De
Angelis’ orchestra was born. It had very simple interpretative
proposals, but it was very easy to understand by those who
preferred simple, harmonic and beautiful musical manifestations.
De Angelis’ group never gave place to their integrants
personal luster, although some of them were very gifted artists.
However, it always granted outstanding vocal performances, since
singers were the ones who, mostly, determined the real
attraction of the orchestra.
