During
the initiations of the recording era for typical orchestras,
Columbia company was the leader. Juan “Pacho” Maglio’s
orchestra was the most successful around that time. People used
to say “Give me a Pacho!” when they went to record stores to
buy an album by this orchestra, and salesmen knew it. Their
performances at “La Paloma” or “Garibotto” cafés were
always crowded. As there were only four musicians in the
orchestra, the audience used to make special songs requests to
them. Some of the recordings the made include a mazurka by
Metallo and the tango “La sonámbula” (“The
sleepwalker”) by Cardarópoli, which was very well received by
people. |
