Ricardo
Tanturi had achieved great prestige in the tango world, when he was the
leader of “Los indios” (“The indians”), sharing the stages with
the unforgettable jazz band “Santa Paula Serenaders”, directed by Raúl
Sánchez Reynoso. He always had a traditional way of playing, without
experiments of more musical restlessness. He was one of the most
faithful exponent of a simply expressed tango, which satisfied the
requirements of one portion of the tango audience. Tanturi always gave
great importance to the vocalists of his group. With Alberto Castillo
first, and with Enrique Campos later, he formed one of the most
recognised artistic duets of that moment.
