This sextet was one of the most strong foundations tango around that time had, it was a time of uncertainty for this musical genre, but the sextet caused a revolution. They performed at cafés such as Germinal and Tupí Nambá and at radio stations such as Fenix and America. They also performed at the Centenario Stadium, in Montevideo, Uruguay. Its singers were Alfredo Marino, Carlos Lafuente, Nelly de la Vega and Guillermo Arbos. The group was structured in such a way that allowed personal luster of its brilliant soloists, who used a peculiar way of playing: a rhythmic marcation, free of cadences and marked with syncope effects and elegant rubattos, included in an harmonic game of high musical hierarchy. This sextet constitutes a transcendent stage in tango instrumental evolution. Unfortunately, there are no recordings by Vardaro Sextet, since they were not considered to be “commercial”.
